Camp HOPE 2015
This year we are hosting a free one day therapeutic day camp for children ages 6-12 who have experienced the death of a loved one within the past 2 years. We are excited this year to also include parents/guardians in camp. Children will experience fun and meaningful activities such as expressing grief through color, music, movement, and self-care. Adults will participate in a family activity with the child but will also participate in activities designed just for adults. Snacks and lunch are provided. Camps will run from 9 am to 4 pm. Register early – space is limited to 40 children.

Healing Hooves 2015
Hospice of the Bluegrass and Central Kentucky Riding for HOPE are joining forces on July 15, 16, and 18 to facilitate the bereavement program, Healing Hooves. This program will incorporate the use of horses to help facilitate the grieving process for Kentucky children and teenagers from ages 6 to 17 years old who have experienced the death of a loved one.
Healing Hooves is a daytime retreat that will combine Hospice Bereavement Counselors, PATH International Certified Equine Specialists, and horses to assist children with the healing process and help promote healthy coping skills. Retreat participants will be taught strategies to express their grief, reduce stress and isolation, and connect with others who have lost a loved one.
Youth will join the counselors and equine specialists at the Central Kentucky Riding for HOPE facilities located at the Kentucky Horse Park. A screening and application process is required prior to retreat participation. This program is open to any Kentucky child or teenager who has experienced the death of a loved one. Participation cost is $30 per child or $35 for a family and scholarships are available. For more information contact Brandy Gordon, LCSW, at 277-2700 or email@example.com and check out the flyer here.
