Information for Students

The goal of our education program is to provide as many opportunities as possible for students to learn about providing high-quality hospice and palliative care.

The needs of our patients and families guide our work.  These needs will always take priority over student schedules.  Please be flexible in your requests.

It is our policy that prior to being onsite with our staff, families and/or patients, all students should:

  • complete the professional student information form
  • review the student/intern orientation manual
  • confirm receipt and understanding of Sexual Abuse Policy
  • provide signature verification of understanding and willingness to adhere to our Confidentiality Policy
  • provide signature verifying mandated reporter status and how to report concerns to staff within HOB
  • show evidence of TB  status, if applicable (copy of negative screening within past year) or discussion if previous reaction on PPD, and review of current symptoms
  • present a syllabus that clarifies your course objectives
  • request verification of a current contract for community placement with your institution
  • for medical students, come to agreement that our programs can help you meet your learning objectives. We encourage other students to work with their preceptor to develop appropriate learning objectives.

Complete all forms, then call your preferred site to schedule an appointment to review forms and your complete your orientation. Contact information is in the green box on the right.
